WHAT IS HCV?

Understanding

Hepatitis C Virus (HCV)

Often referred to as Hep C, HCV is a viral infection typically transmitted through blood-to-blood
contact or sexual contact. Many people with HCV experience mild symptoms, but if left untreated,
serious and even fatal long-term health complications can transpire.

Why Treat HCV?

Preventing Serious Health Complications

Although HCV symptoms are often mild at first, long-term complications can include liver damage such as fibrosis and cirrhosis. Chronic HCV also increases the risk of liver cancer and liver failure. Treatment can mitigate these risks while potentially reducing other health problems.
